This design is knitted in our lambswool yarn spun from New Zealand merino lambswool. Some of the yarns are spun with a small amount of wool from Gotland sheep for a mottled effect. Two pattern yarns consist of an angora yarn spun from 50% hand-clipped angora wool from our own angora rabbits and 50% New Zealand merino wool.

Garner to Red Eskimo

Based on original patterns and models held in museum collections , we held in museum collections carefully developed yarns that mimic those used in the original Bohus Stickning knitting patterns.

Red Eskimo is knitted in our two-ply lambswool yarn with a length of 450 m/100 g, which consists mainly of New Zealand merino wool and a small amount of wool from Gotland sheep. The wool comes from farms that do not use mulesing and is carefully selected for its quality by Henrichsens Uldspinderi, which spins the wool in Skive, Denmark. Two of the pattern yarns for Röd Eskimå consist of 50% hand-clipped and hand-sorted angora wool from our own angora rabbits and 50% New Zealand merino wool, selected for its quality by Henrichsens Uldspinderi. It is a slightly thinner, Two-ply with a length of 600 m/100 g.

Red Eskimo is knitted on base natural gray base our lighter shade NZ 2. The yarn gets its mottled appearance from being spun with wool from Gotland sheep. The pattern consists of 9 pattern yarns, two of which are spun in angora/merino wool.

The yarns for Röd Eskimå are mostly dyed by hand by Pernille Silfverberg to ensure that they resemble the originals, a laborious process that is continuously evaluated and adjusted to achieve a satisfactory result. There are many considerations to take into account when recreating Bohus Stickning models. This also applies to the continued development of knitting kit. A knitting kit a recreated Bohus Stickning model Bohus Stickning the result of many hours of careful work and reverence for Bohus Stickning's cultural heritage and history.
