Papegojan recreated as pullover cardigan models with patterned front straight and patterned front. For sizes XXS-XL, knitting instructions are included for both a straighter men's model with a 4 cm long rib at the bottom and a women's model with a curved waist and a 10 cm long rib. They are also referred to as the "long model" and "short model" in the knitting instructions. All knitting kit complete knitting instructions with pattern diagrams for both pullover cardigan the specified sizes. Knitting technique
The front and back pieces are knitted separately and have sewn-in sleeves. Both pullover cardigan back and forth. For cardigan , the button edges cardigan a little tighter in ribbing with a small ball of yarn on each side. For the straighter model, knit without shaping the sleeves. The length of the ribbing at the bottom can be adjusted to your liking, but for the men's model, knit 4 cm of ribbing as a starting point, and for the women's model, knit 10 cm of ribbing.
It is knitted in stockinette stitch except for the pattern and ribbing, which are knitted with both purl and knit stitches. The pattern for Papegojan with up to 4 pattern yarns working at the same time and consists of 9 pattern yarns. Many of the pattern's rows are knitted with three pattern yarns working at the same time.
Needles are not included in the kit, but typically 2.0 mm – 2.5 mm needles are needed to achieve the correct gauge. 30 stitches and 40 rows measure approximately 10 x 10 cm in stockinette stitch.
Buttons for cardigan
A cardigan approximately 10–12 buttons. Buttons for original lambswool cardigans were typically around 10–13 mm in diameter and had four holes. Buttons are not included in the knitting kit.
Garner to Papegojan
Papegojan in our two-ply lambswool yarn with a length of 450 m/100 g, which consists of New Zealand merino wool. The wool comes from farms that do not use mulesing and is carefully selected for its quality by Henrichsens Uldspinderi, which spins the wool in Skive, Denmark. Based on original patterns and models held in museum collections , we held in museum collections developed yarns that mimic the yarns originally used for Bohus Stickning.
Papegojan on base natural gray base. The yarn gets its mottled appearance from being spun with wool from Gotland sheep. The pattern yarns for Papegojan, 9 in total, are mostly dyed by hand by Pernille Silfverberg to ensure that the yarns resemble the originals, a laborious process that is continuously evaluated and adjusted to achieve a satisfactory result.
Some of the pattern yarns, specifically those found in many models, are dyed at Henrichsens Uldspinderi. This ensures even dyeing and is the result of a painstaking collaboration with the spinning mill to achieve the correct shade.
