The Blue Edge was originally designed for Bohus Stickning by Anna-Lisa Mannheimer Lunn in the mid-1940s. Elements of the Blue Edge pattern can also be found in the Stirrup and the Stirrup with Yellow Stripe, which are part of the same collection.
The knitting kit for This design was developed in 2016 from original charts and garments held in museum collections. It has been recreated as pullover or cardigan with patterned front, as a hat and as mittens. The mittens worn by Pernille are in the Stigbygeln design, which iforms part of the Blå Randen collection. The Stigbygeln design also includes a knitting kit for socks, and for both socks and mittens.
The garment is knitted on natural grey base (no 2S) in our Bohus Lambswool. This yarn is spun with lambswool sourced from New Zealand. The majority of the yarns also include a small proportion of gotland sheep wool, sourced from England which provides a marled appearance. The yarns are spun in Denmark at Heinrichsens Uldspinderi and are dyed to match the original yarns. The natural grey base colour is coloured naturally without dye by the inclusion of British Gotland fur sheep wool. Otherwise, base colours are dyed at the spinning mill to ensure even saturation of colour across the garment. The pattern colours are hand dyed by Pernille Silfverberg.
