The Stirrup was originally designed for Bohus Stickning by Anna-Lisa Mannheimer Lunn in the mid-1940s. The Stirrup is part of the Blue Stripe collection together with the Stirrup with Yellow Stripe.

The knitting kit for Stigbygeln with a yellow stripe as a pullover and cardigan was developed in 2021 by Pernille Silfverberg and is based on charts and original garments held in museum collections. The knitting kit for Stigbygeln with a yellow stripe is only available as a pullover or cardigan with a full patterned front.  The Stigbygeln design is also available as a hat , as mittens, or as mittens and socks.

This design is knitted on natural gray mottled base in our wool yarn spun from New Zealand merino lambswool. Some of the yarns also contain a small amount of wool from Gotland fur sheep from England, which gives a mottled look. The yarns are spun in Denmark at Henrichsens uldspinderi and carefully dyed in for each knitting kit to authentically replicate the original yarns for design. Pattern yarns, unless the base color in any other design, are hand-dyed by Pernille Silfverberg.
